Do you know where you are in terms of web presence?

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

I’m always thrilled when I meet people that are obviously up to speed with the SEO practices that will deliver them results for their company. What’s more I love to meet people working in the same field as I am that are on the same learning wave. I say wave because the explosion that is coming our way in terms of web presence are have the magnitude of Tsunami waves hitting a small island. The difference? You can, and with some help WILL, surf a top these awesome waves to a place where your website delivers the ROI and ROC you deserve!

What are ROI and ROC? ROI is the known term for return on investment. ROC is a fairly new term, coined by Inbound Marketers, to describe the goal you must have in mind when working on your web content, return on content. So here we are, we have arrived at the place where the creations of your company, the information, it’s expertise, once placed and shared can bring monetary and social return.

That means you are at source of all your possibilities. You are in the seat, you can control your content. I gave Gary Vaynerchuck’s book a second read. I cannot understate the need to read his book, over and over and over…. need I say more?

Anyway, back to the point, the chapters I read again handled the point that a lot of companies freeze at the prospect of sharing towards the audience. I know I did the first time I was writing content for Aruba Learning. And we freeze wondering is this politically correct to say, can I pull off telling the audience this? Shouldn’t we hire a PR expert? Well good news guys! In this era where you can control where the eyeballs go and how people receive information about you you need to be the unfiltered you. And you need to react properly. Reactionary business is a must. Gary has a very tough way of communicating, he remains genuine in his videos, because he knows a PR-approved approach will tarnish his personal brand. But he is ready to listen and react, and you should too.

Now, drawing on this it is important that you get to know where you are in terms of web presence, SEO and the target audience. Are you assessing your website, social media activity? Are you using great product placements techniques? Do you have any idea where to begin with an assessment?

I’m glad you spent some time to read this! I’m here to offer you a tool out of my Internet Marketing Assistant bag of tricks… and it’s nothing to do with trickery and obscure and inaccessible information. NO!

I’m offering and Internet Marketing Assestment Package and an Internet Marketing Plan of Action. What will you get?

A full assessment of what you are doing, what you can still do, a competitors analysis and a website assessment. It’s time you found out how you are doing in terms of SEO. Are you doing all you can (and by golly wiz, SHOULD!) to have ROI and ROC?

It’s also important to consider what some experts over at www.hubspot.com are saying about SEO:

Jen advises that “the days of easy optimization are long gone, so prepare yourself to make SEO a priority. In order to perform in today’s competitive search climate, you must have a well rounded, strategic optimization plan that includes keyword and competitive research, optimized content generation, code optimization, site structure optimization, link building, and social media integration.”

Email me for a FREE information session of 30 minutes to discuss the services I offer. And if you like what you hear, and I swear you will!!, we can go ahead and assess the hell out of your website and your IM activities. Make 2010 the year you turn your website into the cash pony it should be! (Don’t like the idea of a cash pony, think of this: cut on expensive and barely passable advertisement campaigns in local media, draw the right customers, have the business you want, get the results you need and see some return for once.. sound better? I like ponies carrying cash though…. ).

Enhance your Facebook Page – Add HTML Landing Page Look and Functionality

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Last time we discussed how to add images to your Facebook Fan Page and make this the landing page. We also added the “a href=” feature to link the image to your website.

But why stop there?

Did you know that you could use some basic HTML functions to make it look more like a website landing page?

That’s right! You can definitely add extras to your Facebook Landing Page to make it look and work like a mini website.  Here were thinking HTML pages with images and some basic CSS. This issue we will not address the CSS yet, next issue will feature this.

Some ideas are to add a special feature (banner ad) for a specific topic you want your Fan Page visitors to see and a few others, mixing and matching linked images to add some light functionality.

What we are going to do in this article is add a table of 2 rows and 3 columns. (you can freely change this to suit your needs by adding more <td>text</td> for columns and <tr> “td-elements </tr> for rows, remember to add an equal amount of td’s in each tr so the tables are even).

In each cell we will place an image and we will make a few images link to your website and another tab. This is also used to add a “become fan” button in this landing page.

Remember the previous post? We are going to use the same FBML box we used previously to place that single image and link. (If you have not read that article yet read how to add images to a Facebook Fan Page tab on my blog)

This time we will use the following code:

<table>
<tr>
<td>picture</td>
<td>picture</td>
<td>picture</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>picture</td>
<td>picture</td>
<td>picture</td>
</tr>
</table>

A word of caution, although you can change the orientation (merge cells and insert a single image) easily in an HTML editor like Dreamweaver and test the look in advanced, if you are so inclined, be aware that the FBML features are not exactly like HTML and might not look exactly like the preview in Dreamweaver.

I have yet to test the CSS features at length, so for this issue we are just going to explore the steps to adding a three-slice banner with two areas that need to be “clickable”.  (See Example Facebook Fan Page Landing Page)

Take the image you want to use and slice it in your favorite image editing software into 3 equal segments. Make sure of course that the fragments have text that encourages clicking like “click here”, “ Subscribe NOW” or “read more”.  These are what we call call-to-action buttons.

IMAGE WEBSITE EXAMPLE

To place images in each cell and row use this code:

<img src=”IMAGE LINK” width=”ENTER HERE IMAGE WIDTH” height=”ENTER HERE IMAGE HEIGHT” border=”0″ alt=”" />

To make them link to a URL use this:

<a href=”YOUR DESTINATION LINK”> “image scr code here”</a>

NOTE: For the images to show correctly; make sure you enter the image width and height. For best results use the actual image dimensions.

The finished table code should look like this:

<table>

<tr>

<td><a href=” IMAGE LOCATION URL”><img src=”IMAGE LINK” width=”ENTER HERE IMAGE WIDTH” height=”ENTER HERE IMAGE HEIGHT” border=”0″ alt=”" /></a></td>

<td> < img src=”IMAGE LOCATION URL” width=”ENTER HERE IMAGE WIDTH” height=”ENTER HERE IMAGE HEIGHT” border=”0″ alt=”" /> </td>

<td><a href=”YOUR DESTINATION LINK”><img src=” IMAGE LOCATION URL” width=”ENTER HERE IMAGE WIDTH” height=”ENTER HERE IMAGE HEIGHT” border=”0″ alt=”" /> </a></td>

</tr>

<tr>

<td> < img src=” IMAGE LOCATION URL” width=”ENTER HERE IMAGE WIDTH” height=”ENTER HERE IMAGE HEIGHT” border=”0″ alt=”" /> </td>

<td> < img src=” IMAGE LOCATION URL” width=”ENTER HERE IMAGE WIDTH” height=”ENTER HERE IMAGE HEIGHT” border=”0″ alt=”" /> </td>

<td><a href=”YOUR DESTINATION LINK”><img src=” IMAGE LOCATION URL ” width=”ENTER HERE IMAGE WIDTH” height=”ENTER HERE IMAGE HEIGHT” border=”0″ alt=”" /> </td>

</tr>

</table>

No time to do this yourself?

As an IMVA, I offer the service to make these for you, the look, the codes and the FBML input. I also add a google analytics tracking code to it so you can see how many people visit it, you can also opt to see how many people click and what they do on it?

Curious? Just message me, tweet me or email me for a quote and lets see what Beth the IMVA can do for your website, Facebook Fan Page and Inbound Marketing Campaigns.
